Sling is an Item that causes the player to shoot a projectile whenever they pick up a seed or Fertilizer.
General Description
Sling is an Item that can be found within common locations, including choice enemy Camps, given by Spouses, and rarely as a reward from Seasonal Festivals. Upon being picked up, the player will begin firing fast-moving projectiles whenever they pick up a seed or Fertilizer piece. Each one of these projectiles deal 40 damage, and can be fired extremely rapidly granted the player continues picking up seeds or Fertilizer. Each projectile fired will also home in towards the nearest hostile Enemy, including those off screen. Note that the projectile fired is not relative to the player's current Weapon, and as such will not benefit from that given Weapon's upgrades nor consume its ammo. In addition, this Item will not permanently despawn any seeds or Fertilizer, and will instead fire a free bullet relative per each individual object collected.
Comparison
Compared to other means of dealing damage, Sling is among the most effortless. This is because of how the only action the player needs to do is simply gather pieces of ammunition. In addition, Sling has a significantly faster fire rate than Drones, Turrets, and even some Weapons. This combined with its relatively high damage per shot allows Sling to potentially outperform other means of dealing damage. However, Sling's downfall deprives from its reliance on seeds and Fertilizer in order to trigger its effect. Without proper means of acquiring these necessities quickly can potentially limit how beneficial Sling may be. This can be especially true on the Farm, where Fertilizer drops may be limited when compared to clearing Camps in Biomes. Due to this, Sling is best valued when the player already has abundant means of gathering Fertilizer within a short time frame, such as through the means of the Fertilizer Mushroom.
