Pumpkin Head is a Golden Pupa loot Item that allows Scarecrows to plant Pumpkin Seeds.
General Description[ | ]
Pumpkin Head is an Item that can only be found in the form of Golden Pupa loot. Upon being picked up, the all of the player's current and future Scarecrows will begin to spawn free Pumpkin Seeds in the immediate eight tilled tiles surrounding them. They will plant these seeds almost immediately after the given tile become available, effectively meaning that after one Crop is harvested a Pumpkin Seed will be planted right away. This allows players to further enhance the defense of their Scarecrows, due to the Pumpkins' area damage when harvested. In addition, this Item makes Scarecrows a direct source of free Cashews. This can be combined with Participation Award to create free Mega Pumpkins, given the player has at least two or more Scarecrows. This means that players can purchase Scarecrows from the Flower Merchant as an investment to eventually make more money. Note that if the player has Resilience that the Scarecrow will not directly deploy Pumpkins on hard crust, but the Pumpkins spawned will be able to spread onto it.
Comparison[ | ]
Compared to other means of defense, Pumpkin Head is not unique in regards to enhancing the defensive capabilities of another Item, and especially not to Scarecrows. The Scary Mask is also capable of making Scarecrows stronger. Additionally, each of these Items can provide stronger defensive benefits to Scarecrows than Pumpkin Head can. However, unlike the former mentioned and other Items, Pumpkin Head is the only one that makes Scarecrows act as a source of profit. This can be utilized in order for the player to gain more money overall, which can especially helpful at the start of their run. Because of this, Pumpkin Head is best seen as a free, direct source of profit rather than an additional form of defense.
