Scrolls, sometimes referred to in-game as Pigeons, are used to cast magical abilities which help the farm in various ways. A Scroll is consumed upon use.
The player can carry 2 Scrolls at once, which increases with a higher Farming Stat. Further Scroll pick-ups will result in dropping one.
Obtaining Scrolls[ | ]
Scrolls can be found within Enemy Camps. In the first area of each Biome, these camps will reward Pigeon (level 1) scrolls. In the second area, these camps will reward Dove (level 2) scrolls. Hawk (level 3) scrolls cannot be found in this way.
At Seasonal Festivals scrolls are sometimes available from the Rose Market, with higher level scrolls being available later in the year. Pigeon (Spring) and Dove (Summer, Fall) scrolls cost 1 while Hawk (Fall, Winter) scrolls cost 2.
Getting a good Season Yield at the Seasonal Festival will reward the player with items, which has a chance of including a scroll.
A scroll can also be obtained once every day via the Dovecote upgrade.
Some Enemies drop Scrolls on defeat, such as the Golden Goose and occasionally witches.
With various Home Improvements, Scrolls have a chance to be dropped by Bosses, or purchased from the Garden Shop in Town. In the Garden Shop, Pigeon scrolls can be purchased in Spring (100), Dove Scrolls in Summer (250) and Fall (650), and Hawk Scrolls in Winter (1500).
Using Scrolls[ | ]
Scrolls are stored in a separate inventory visible on the right-hand side of the screen. The scroll which is currently being viewed can be used by pressing Shift (on PC), X (on Xbox and Switch) or square (on PS). Players can change scroll by pressing X (on PC) or the left analog stick.
When a scroll is used, it has a small chance of not being consumed, allowing it to be used again. This depends on the player's Homing Pigeon stat, which cannot be altered with items during a run but can be increased with various Home Improvements and Cat Plushies.
