Fertilizer is a common pickup and game mechanic in Atomicrops.

General Description

Fertilizer is a pickup that can be used to fertilize Crops. Fertilizing Crops generally makes them more valuable to sell, and also allows for the formation of Megacrops. It can be found from various sources, including killing Enemies, completing some Camps, cutting Weeds, Items, using certain Tractors, clearing Junk, rarely given by Farm Animals or specific Spouses, as a reward from Dicey's Casino, and given from the Time Capsule through certain Home Improvements. Fertilizer will despawn when left on the ground for too long, and should be collected quickly.

Fertilizer Effects

Fertilizing a Crop will increase the chance that the given Crop will be in its "healthy" state upon harvest. This healthy crop will be worth more Cashews than an unhealthy Crop of the same variety. If the maximum possible amount of fertilizer is given to a crop, the chance is guaranteed. In other words, fertilizing a Crop will not increase the value of the given Crop for each piece of Fertilizer given.

Fertilizing Crops can also allow them to become a Megacrop. Fertilizing a 2x2 square of identical crops will cause them to merge, creating a Megacrop. Megacrops are worth more Cashews than four small Crops of the same variety, and can also be fertilized. Different varieties of Crops require different amounts of Fertilizer in order to be fully fertilized, or to create a Megacrop. The amount of Fertilizer needed to merge a Crop or fully fertilize it are often different; these values are detailed in the table below.

Some Crops have unique interactions with fertilizer.

• Fruit Trees: Much like regular Crops, Fruit Trees can be given Fertilizer. This allows them to merge (creating a 4x4 Mega Tree), or be harvested in a healthy state. Unlike regular Crops however, when fertilizer is given to a Fruit Tree, it will keep that Fertilizer until either the run ends or it is destroyed. This makes Fruit Trees an extremely worthwhile investment of Fertilizer.
• Heart Beets: Fertilizing Heart Beets will increase the chance of an additional Heart Sprout on harvest, instead of being collected in a healthy state. Fully fertilized single Heart Beets will always provide one Heart Sprout, and fully fertilized Mega Heart Beets will always provide two (while also giving five Heart Beets instead of four). This makes fertilizing and harvesting single Heart Beets more efficient for increasing the player's maximum health.
• Roses: Roses cannot be fertilized, and will merge automatically. There are no unhealthy or healthy states for roses.
• Sunflowers: Sunflowers will immediately give the player Cashews in the form of sunflower seeds upon being fertilized, with single Sunflowers and Mega Sunflowers awarding 6 and 30 Cashews respectively per Fertilizer.
