'''Fertilizer''' is a common pickup and game mechanic in [[Atomicrops]].
'''Fertilizer''' is a common pickup that can be used to fertilize [[Crops]]. Fertilizing [[Crops]] makes them more valuable to sell, and also allows for the formation of Megacrops. It can be found within various locations, including killing [[Enemies]], the Giant Slug [[Camps|Camp]], by cutting [[Weeds]], clearing [[Debris]], rarely given by [[Farm Animals]] and some [[Spouses]], and given from the [[Time Capsule]] through certain [[Home Improvements]]. Fertilizer will despawn when left on the ground for too long, so therefore the player must pick it up quickly.

Fertilizer is a pickup that can be used to fertilize [[Crops]]. Fertilizing [[Crops]] generally makes them more valuable to sell, and also allows for the formation of Megacrops. It can be found from various sources, including killing [[Enemies]], completing some [[Camps]], cutting [[Weeds]], [[Items]], using certain [[Tractors]], clearing [[Junk]], rarely given by [[Farm Animals]] or specific [[Spouses]], as a reward from [[Seasonal_Festival#Dicey.27s_Casino|Dicey's Casino]], and given from the [[Time Capsule]] through certain [[Home Improvements]]. Fertilizer will despawn when left on the ground for too long, and should be collected quickly.
Different [[Crops]] require different amounts of Fertilizer in order to be fully fertilized and reaching their greater sell value. Note that, with the exception of [[Sunflower|Sunflowers]], Fertilizer does '''not''' increase the value of the given [[Crops|Crop]] for each piece of Fertilizer given. Instead, it increases the chance that the given [[Crops|Crop]] will be fertilized upon harvest. If the maximum amount of Fertilizer is given the chance is guaranteed. Different [[Crops]] have different rates of fertilization in order to merge into a Megacrop and to be fully fertilized. This can be seen in the table below. Fruit Trees are unique due to how upon being fully fertilized they will remain that way for the remainder of the run. This makes Fruit Trees an extremely worthwhile Fertilizer investment.

Fertilizing a [[Crops|Crop]] will increase the chance that the given Crop will be in its "healthy" state upon harvest. This healthy crop will be worth more [[File:Cashew.png]] [[Cashews]] than an unhealthy [[Crops|Crop]] of the same variety. If the maximum possible amount of fertilizer is given to a crop, the chance is guaranteed. In other words, fertilizing a [[Crops|Crop]] will '''not''' increase the value of the given [[Crops|Crop]] for each piece of Fertilizer given.

Fertilizing [[Crops]] can also allow them to become a Megacrop. Fertilizing a 2x2 square of identical crops will cause them to merge, creating a Megacrop. Megacrops are worth more [[Cashews]] than four small [[Crops]] of the same variety, and can also be fertilized. Different varieties of [[Crops]] require different amounts of Fertilizer in order to be fully fertilized, or to create a Megacrop. The amount of Fertilizer needed to merge a [[Crops|Crop]] or fully fertilize it are often different; these values are detailed in the table below.

Some [[Crops]] have unique interactions with fertilizer.
  +
  +
*[[Crops#Fruit_Trees|Fruit Trees]]: Much like regular [[Crops]], Fruit Trees can be given Fertilizer. This allows them to merge (creating a 4x4 Mega Tree), or be harvested in a healthy state. Unlike regular [[Crops]] however, when fertilizer is given to a Fruit Tree, it will keep that Fertilizer until either the run ends or it is destroyed. This makes Fruit Trees an extremely worthwhile investment of Fertilizer.
  +
*[[Heart Beet|Heart Beets]]: Fertilizing Heart Beets will increase the chance of an additional Heart Sprout on harvest, instead of being collected in a healthy state. Fully fertilized single Heart Beets will always provide one Heart Sprout, and fully fertilized Mega Heart Beets will always provide two (while also giving five Heart Beets instead of four). This makes fertilizing and harvesting single Heart Beets more efficient for increasing the player's maximum health.
  +
*[[Roses]]: Roses cannot be fertilized, and will merge automatically. There are no unhealthy or healthy states for roses.
  +
*[[Sunflower|Sunflowers]]: Sunflowers will immediately give the player [[File:Cashew.png]] [[Cashews]] in the form of sunflower seeds upon being fertilized, with single Sunflowers and Mega Sunflowers awarding 6 and 30 Cashews respectively per Fertilizer.

<nowiki>**</nowiki>Sunflowers merge into a Megacrop automatically when placed properly, and will consume 50 Fertilizer at maximum, immediately rewarding 3 Cashews for regular Sunflowers and 15 Cashews for Mega Sunflowers per Fertilizer used. If any of the Sunflowers were given Fertilizer before they merged, then the Mega Sunflower will be partially fertilized upon creation. The Fertilizer amount will be averaged between the four Sunflowers; for instance, if the player gives one of the four Sunflowers 30 Fertilizer, and don't give any to the other three, then that will average to 7 Fertilizer, and the Mega Sunflower will then only accept 43 Fertilizer. This cuts into the profit potential of the crop and weakens the power of being able to quickly produce huge amounts of Cashews with it, as well as burning through a larger amount of the player's Fertilizer stock; therefore, when planning to merge Sunflowers, it is crucial to not give any Fertilizer to the Sunflowers before they merge.

Fertilizer is a common pickup and game mechanic in Atomicrops.

General Description[]

Fertilizer is a pickup that can be used to fertilize Crops. Fertilizing Crops generally makes them more valuable to sell, and also allows for the formation of Megacrops. It can be found from various sources, including killing Enemies, completing some Camps, cutting Weeds, Items, using certain Tractors, clearing Junk, rarely given by Farm Animals or specific Spouses, as a reward from Dicey's Casino, and given from the Time Capsule through certain Home Improvements. Fertilizer will despawn when left on the ground for too long, and should be collected quickly.

Fertilizer Effects[]

Fertilizing a Crop will increase the chance that the given Crop will be in its "healthy" state upon harvest. This healthy crop will be worth more Cashew.png Cashews than an unhealthy Crop of the same variety. If the maximum possible amount of fertilizer is given to a crop, the chance is guaranteed. In other words, fertilizing a Crop will not increase the value of the given Crop for each piece of Fertilizer given.

Fertilizing Crops can also allow them to become a Megacrop. Fertilizing a 2x2 square of identical crops will cause them to merge, creating a Megacrop. Megacrops are worth more Cashews than four small Crops of the same variety, and can also be fertilized. Different varieties of Crops require different amounts of Fertilizer in order to be fully fertilized, or to create a Megacrop. The amount of Fertilizer needed to merge a Crop or fully fertilize it are often different; these values are detailed in the table below.

Some Crops have unique interactions with fertilizer.

  • Fruit Trees: Much like regular Crops, Fruit Trees can be given Fertilizer. This allows them to merge (creating a 4x4 Mega Tree), or be harvested in a healthy state. Unlike regular Crops however, when fertilizer is given to a Fruit Tree, it will keep that Fertilizer until either the run ends or it is destroyed. This makes Fruit Trees an extremely worthwhile investment of Fertilizer.
  • Heart Beets: Fertilizing Heart Beets will increase the chance of an additional Heart Sprout on harvest, instead of being collected in a healthy state.
  • Roses: Roses cannot be fertilized, and will merge automatically. There are no unhealthy or healthy states for roses.
  • Sunflowers: Sunflowers will immediately give the player Cashew.png Cashews in the form of sunflower seeds upon being fertilized, with single Sunflowers and Mega Sunflowers awarding 6 and 30 Cashews respectively per Fertilizer.

Table of Crop Fertilization Requirements[]

Megacrop Merge Requirement is the amount of Fertilizer needed for each individual Crop in a given 2x2 area to merge together, creating a Megacrop. Maximum Crop Fertilizer Requirement is the amount of Fertilizer needed to guarantee a single seed of a Crop is harvested in its healthy state. Maximum Megacrop Fertilizer Requirement is the amount of Fertilizer needed to guarantee a Megacrop version of a Crop is harvested in its healthy state.
