Black Eyed Beans are a type of Crop which can be grown in Atomicrops.
Obtaining[ | ]
Black Eyed Beans are grown from the second level of Desert Seeds.
The player starts the game with their Desert Seeds growing into Prickly Pears, but once enough Desert Seeds have been sown and harvested, the player's Desert seeds will evolve into Black Eyed Beans. Once a certain number of Black Eyed Beans are grown and harvested (approximately 6 fully fertilized Megacrops), all Desert Seeds will instead grow into Grapes, and Black Eyed Beans will be unavailable for the remainder of the player's run. This includes Black Eyed Beans yet to be harvested when the seeds are upgraded, as they will automatically change into Grapes.
Finding Desert Seeds[ | ]
Desert Seeds can be found in the first Desert area, most commonly from clearing Squirrel and Bulb Camps. They are also sometimes dropped by defeated Enemies. This chance is increased if the player has the Flying Squirrels weapon or Squirrel Pocket upgrade.
When killed, Beeson drop seeds from a random Biome, regardless of location. Cutting Weeds on the farm may also drop random seeds, which are commonly Desert Seeds.
See the Related Items section of this page for other sources.
Alternatively, Desert Seeds can be purchased at the Garden Shop in Spring and Fall. These cost 30 in Spring and 70 in Fall, and give the player 4-10 Desert Seeds immediately on purchase.
If the player has the Oven Terrarium then Desert Seeds will be unavailable, and these sources will instead drop random seeds from another Biome.
If the player is playing as Oregacrow, then Desert Seeds and Black Eyed Beans are unavailable.
Growing Black Eyed Beans[ | ]
Fertilization and Megacrop Variant[ | ]
Black Eyed Beans require 3 Fertilizer to be fully fertilized. Creating a Megacrop (from 4 Black Eyed Bean crops planted in a 2x2 formation) therefore requires 12.
A mega Black Eyed Bean requires a further 6 to become fully fertilized itself.
Watering[ | ]
To fully grow, small Black Eyed Beans need 0 units of water, and a freshly merged Mega Black Eyed Bean needs 1 unit of water. Since the smaller version of the Crop does not need water to grow it may be preferable to grow four smaller versions before fertilizing and merging them, in order to avoid the 1 water required for the larger version.
Propagators and Garden Beds[ | ]
Leveling up crops or rescuing Wormsy from special Camps will reward the player with special upgrades that change how crops can be sown and grow. Each of the four common crop types can be upgraded to use either Propagators or Garden Beds. If the player's Desert Seeds are currently growing Black Eyed Beans, then the following items will affect them.
If the player chose the Desert Propagator, allowing them to plant Desert Seeds quickly in lines:
- Dupligator: Sown Desert seeds have a chance to duplicate. Effect increases with length of line.
- Gator Age: Sowing Desert seeds may age a Garden Bed. Effect increases with length of line.
- Juicy Gator: Sowing Desert seeds can add fruit to a tree. Chance increases with length of line.
- Nitrogator: Sown Desert seeds are partially fertilized. Effect increases with length of line.
- Prismatic Scales: Black Eyed Beans sometimes drop a random seed on harvest.
- Rocket Scales: Sowing Desert seeds will damage Enemies. Damage increases with length of line.
- Salivary Glands: Soil underneath sown Desert seeds becomes compact wet Soil.
- Sandy Scales: When low on Desert seeds, the player will continuously gain more Desert seeds.
- Vegan Gator: Sown Desert seeds will cut Weeds and till Soil.
If the player chose the Cactus Saw, allowing them to use Desert Garden Beds:
- Desert Garden Bed Bundle: Gain 3 Desert Garden Beds.
- Desert Merge Tapper: Desert Garden Beds drop fertilizer when their crop merges.
- Dried Pistil Whip: Desert Garden Beds drop random seeds on harvest.
- Gator Age: Sowing Propagator seeds has a chance to age a Desert Garden Bed.

- Oven Terrarium: Desert Garden Beds sow their own seeds. Desert seeds transform into random Biome seeds.
- Sandy Fertilizer Spike: Crops in a Desert Garden Bed merge automatically.
